Christmas or Hanukkah wedding? Ideas for fun, flavor, and beauty!

‘Tis the season for some of my all-time favorite color schemes and decorations.

So let’s dig into it.

Whether you celebrate these holidays because you’re a person of faith or you are not, you might be looking for a little inspiration.

FYI: Some of these ideas will be less expensive than others. Some of them might not be doable in all-inclusive venues or with certain vendors.

Fun ideas:

  • White elephant party

  • Spot the elf on the shelf prize

  • Name that Song/Artist trivia (best for those who don’t mind cutting a little out of dancetime)

  • Best photobooth photo contest (can add themed elements!)

    • Ask your guests to leave a copy in your guest book, and announce the winner at the end. The winner gets a Christmas present!

    • Need a photobooth? K.S.Otter Events LLC offers a photobooth, and gives a $200 discount if you also get an event coordinating/planning package.

Flavorful ideas:

  • Have a dessert potluck – every group brings a family-favorite dessert

    • Best to leave out take-home boxes for this too!

    • Save money on that dessert table!

  • Rosemary fronds look like trees when they’re sitting in champagne flutes!

  • Caprese salad for those festive colors

  • Gingerbread house (elaborate or child-made, a lovely addition)

  • Gingerbread cookies of the newlyweds (lovebirds are cute!)

  • Hot chocolate station

  • Eggnog (with and without rum)

Decorative & Dressy ideas:

  • Red wedding dress (you can get away with it in December! It’s gorgeous paired with white flowers)

  • Matching plaid tuxedos for the groomsmen

  • Embroidered veils (get through Etsy for a better deal)

    • Maybe you know someone who is great at embroidery or perhaps you’ve seen something on Etsy, but this is a very cool idea!

    • Embroidered along the edge with white detailing (classic) with Christmas/Hanukkah ideas, like stars, doves, reindeer, trees, mangers, or snowflakes

    • Add in a pop of color or shimmery thread with details that are blue (for Hanukkah) or red, gold, and green (for Christmas).

  • Pre-made faux flower arrangements

    • Be it silk, foam, or wood, there are some absolutely beautiful faux flower arrangements out there that reduce floral costs.

    • A few gorgeous examples I found are from Ling’s Moments or Sola Wood (not sponsored)

  • Fairy lights everywhere!

  • Evergreen and pine cone décor.

  • Glass ornament centerpieces (bonus: you can reuse these on your own tree every year or give them as a gift to your guests)

The list could go on and on!

But I gotta catch my next sleigh ride to the nearest grocery store for some hot cocoa mix.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and warmest wishes to all those who celebrate a holiday this season!

Much love,

Katie Sautter
