NC Triad Vendor Spotlight: Chelsea Barber Photography

I’m a wedding planner based out of the North Carolina Triad, so I get to meet lots of wedding vendors. However, I’m determined to give my clients the best local recommendations, and that means interviewing them one-on-one and seeing them work in-person.

Today, I’m spotlighting Chelsea Barber Photography. I have seen Chelsea’s work in-person, and her post-take talent, and I just had to share my thoughts and talk to her again.

A self-portrait by Chelsea Barber.

One of the things I was really impressed by was how quickly she moved from shot to shot, directing smoothly and professionally. It felt natural and easy.

Having followed her for some time on social media (see her IG here: @chelseabarberphotography), I was personally struck not only by her wedding photography but also by her boudoir sessions.

Maybe it’s a bit taboo to say this (it shouldn’t be!), but I booked a boudoir session with her.

While I don’t feel comfortable sharing my own photos, what I do have to say is— WOW.

Chelsea knows how to make you feel confident and see yourself in a new light through her lens. I think we all need a confidence boost from time to time, and she delivered it.

As her client, I felt like I was seen. I was heard. I was understood.

In her wedding photography, I can see that she makes others feel that way too.

I asked Chelsea what her favorite part of wedding photography was:

When I get an inquiry from a bride wanting to know more about my packages, I get a butterfly in my belly: I love to hear the bride’s story of how she got proposed to, and her vision and plan of her special day. I love capturing the little details in the wedding and the emotion of the whole day. It is absolutely beautiful watching two people become one and how much love they have for one another.

It was so sweet, I needed to know more. I asked her what she wants couples to know about her and her business, and she said:

“I am a very task-oriented person when it comes to sticking to a timeline. I do not like to miss anything or get behind. I like to have fun with my clients so when they look at their photos, there is a funny story behind them!

“I started my business after I had my first daughter. I knew I wanted to capture every single important moment that she does, and it took me to another level: I will never give up!”

I love hearing her passion. I was curious what she did before photography, and I learned that she was a CNA and EMT working in a local emergency room in Guilford county. She even has an associate degree in emergency medical science!

I thought this was incredible. Chelsea went All In on photography and has not since regretted it: it’s a passion, a dream. And she’s good at it.

What she said next explained to me perfectly her “Why” in going All In:

“Through the lens, I paint with light, capturing moments that whisper, shout, and forever resonate. Photography isn't just my craft; it's the language of my soul, translating emotions into timeless visual tales. This is a journey of passion, where every camera click echoes the heartbeat of my love for the art.”

It’s no surprise that I highly recommend Chelsea Barber Photography to anyone wanting that thoughtful eye. The kind that captures a moment that makes you feel truly you, but with a new perspective.
