Amy and Logan’s Studio Ghibli wedding was truly one of the most unique weddings we’ve planned. Their wedding embodied their whimsical and enchanting view of the world, a definition of what it means to be human: to have and to hold; to love and to cherish; and to make the most out of life.

Amy and her bridesmaids gathered in The Glass Box, a dressing suite at the wedding venue, The Stockroom at 230, to start their day. Her A-line dress was gorgeous, completed with embroidered flowers and the prettiest train. It was the perfect fit.

She exchanged a first look with her future husband there in the Glass Box, wanting to share a moment in the quiet before their walk down the aisle. It was a sweet, intimate moment they’ll cherish forever.

Logan waited for Amy by the towering bay windows of the venue space, creating a moment right out of a movie. As Amy walked to “Always With Me,” a song featured in Spirited Away, Logan’s eyes filled with tears of joy. The song is about finding your own inner light and never letting go of your dreams, a message they secretly sent each other as soon as they locked eyes.

Guests were ushered to the cocktail hour area where Studio Ghibli songs were played. It was a space filled with excitement and happiness. Meanwhile, our team flipped the ceremony space into the reception. It takes experience and focus to execute a room flip in a short time frame, and our team is always prepared to deliver. It was no different for Amy and Logan’s Studio Ghibli wedding.

Event Flouret created the most beautiful flower arrangements in shades of sage and lavender. They really transformed the room into a space representing elegance and natural beauty found. Amy added details from Studio Ghibli characters into the decoration. This included all the centerpieces at her wedding with the adorable crochet characters, as well as the card box and welcome table decor. She owns her business, Sweet Amy Designs, where she specializes in anime crochet art. So, if you want your wedding to look as awesome as hers, contact her ASAP!

The chalk artist, Katie Hunt from Domestic Oddess, did an amazing job incorporating Amy and Logan’s vision for their wedding. Katie used the Stockroom 230’s chalk wall to incorporate Haku, the dragon from Spirited Away, drawn around their names. She thoughtfully incorporated other Studio Ghibli elements throughout the event: from soot sprites (susuwatari) from My Neighbor Totoro on the seating chart, to the characters from Ponyo on the A-frame welcome sign. Later, she told us, “This has to be one of my favorite projects!” And it showed in her beautiful chalk art.

When the doors to the reception opened, the DJ announced the wedding party to “September” by Earth Wind and Fire to get the energy and vibes up. Right after, the Newlyweds, Amy and Logan, entered the room and the crowd erupted in applause and cheering.

They shared their first dance surrounded by the people who bring them the most joy and comfort.

Caffe Luna, one of the approved caterers for the Stockroom at 230 and for good reason (YUUUM!), opened up the buffet. Italian cuisine at its finest! A friend of the couple made the cake and the Totoro-inspired macarons. It was exactly what they were looking for. Continuing the Studio Ghibli wedding theme, the cake was light pink adorned with whimsical flowers and completed with Amy and Logan’s very own Animal Crossing cake topper characters. It was so cute and sooo delicious.

Everyone gathered to watch the first dances happen. There was barely a dry eye in the room. The couple did a Blindbox toss instead of the traditional bouquet or garter toss. Item tosses like this are a great gender-neutral and fully inclusive alternative to the traditional tosses. A blind box is a beautifully designed, sealed box that’s part of a collection. It could be a doll, plush toy, figurine, or even a DIY kit, and it embodied Amy and Logan’s thoughtful and playful spirit.

The night continued with lots of dancing and celebration for the newlyweds.

To finish the night off, the K.S.Otter Events team organized the guests to pull off an amazing glow-stick exit while the couple enjoyed their final dance of the night in their own company.

We know that life can get in the way of our plans sometimes. All the outside noise can weigh in our minds and make you think whether planning a wedding is the right thing to do in your circumstances. However, if you are on the fence and need someone on your side, listening and understanding, we believe we are the right team for you.
When Amy and Logan had worries about planning, our lead planner, Katie, sat down with them and talked through all the their questions and concerns. She was a guiding voice that made them go: “Okay, we’ll go one day at a time. Let’s keep trying.” Their conversation ended with relaxed shoulders, laughter, and hope that everything they had pictured for their day, they were going to make happen. Moments like these bring us the most joy as planners because we get to turn someone’s planning experience into what it should be, the best time ever.
