Do you have travel fees?
For weddings within North Carolina, we do not charge travel fees. We regularly serve couples across Greensboro, Raleigh, Durham, Charlotte, Asheville, Wilmington, and beyond. If your celebration requires air travel, we’ll create a custom estimate that includes planning services, airfare, and lodging. We happily travel for destination weddings.
Does our wedding have to be eco-friendly?
Not at all. We specialize in sustainable wedding planning, but we support couples across the full spectrum—from fully eco-conscious celebrations to weddings with no sustainability focus at all. Our role is to offer guidance and options, never pressure.
Are you an LGBTQIA+ Friendly wedding planner?
Yes. Inclusivity is foundational to how our team operates. All planners have completed LGBTQ+ competency and allyship training through The Gay Agenda Co., and we are listed with the Safe Space Alliance. Every couple deserves to feel safe, respected, and affirmed throughout planning.

How many weddings do you plan/manage per year, and do you have any other events on our wedding day?
Our team manages around 60 weddings annually across North Carolina. With multiple trained lead planners, we can support more than one wedding per weekend without compromising quality. We never stack more events than our team can comfortably and confidently manage.
What does a first planning meeting with you look like?
Your first planning call is a guided conversation focused on your priorities, budget, and guest experience. We clarify your goals, identify decisions you’ll need to make, and outline next steps so you leave the meeting feeling supported and confident.
Can we meet in person?
Yes—depending on your package and location. Full-service clients typically have in-person meetings for venue walkthroughs and final planning. Most planning touchpoints are held virtually for convenience and efficiency.
Do we have to meet in person?
No. Fully virtual planning is always available.
Do you work with specific vendors, or can we choose your own?
You may choose any licensed, insured vendors you love. We maintain a vetted list of trusted professionals—some offer special perks to our couples—but you’re never required to book from it. Our priority is alignment with your style, values, and budget.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. K.S.Otter Events is a registered North Carolina business (LLC) and carries full liability insurance. We can provide proof of coverage to your venue upon request.
Do you have a backup plan if our lead coordinator can't make it on the wedding day?
Yes. Every wedding has a trained substitute coordinator assigned from the start. Anyone stepping in will already be familiar with your timeline, planning documents, and vendor team to ensure a seamless experience.
Do you have a planning team?
Yes. K.S.Otter Events has a team of five planners—Katie, Rebecca, Jana, Natalia, and Lilly—each with unique strengths and backgrounds. You’ll work with a dedicated lead planner, and the team model provides continuity, support, and emergency coverage.
Are you bilingual? Can you speak Spanish?
Yes. Our team collectively speaks English, Spanish, Slovak, Czech, Russian, and German. We are happy to support bilingual communication, cultural traditions, and multilingual ceremonies where possible.
Are you familiar with Hispanic wedding traditions?
Yes. We frequently support traditions such as the lasso/lazo ceremony, arras/coin exchange, and La Vibora de la Mar. If your family has cultural or faith-based traditions, we will ensure they are thoughtfully integrated into your ceremony and timeline.
