Caitlin and Wes’s wedding was a masterclass in authentic celebration. They didn’t abandon tradition; they reimagined it, proving that you can honor time-tested elements while infusing every moment with your unique personality and vision.
Caitlin got ready surrounded by her closest friends, sharing stories and soaking in the anticipation of the hours ahead. Their photos among the trees and woodland light created images they’ll treasure for a lifetime.
Wes got ready with his groomsmen in a separate house. The couple chose to wait until the ceremony to see one another, saving the first look for that special moment.
Ring Warming Ceremony at Saxapahaw Country Club
Wanting their celebration to reflect not just their love, but their community, Caitlin and Wes incorporated a ring warming ceremony. Their wedding bands were passed hand to hand among their guests, each person offering a blessing or intention. It was a moment that wrapped the entire day in a sense of shared connection.
One of the most touching parts of their ceremony was a reversal of tradition: Caitlin and Wes walked down the aisle before their wedding party. This allowed them to greet each member of their circle as they entered, a gesture full of gratitude and respect. In addition to their wedding party, a baby lamb, who lives in the farm, joined the entrance and walked down the aisle; it was adorable. This is a unique processional flow that requires careful planning and rehearsal, and our team ensured it felt natural and meaningful.
Forest Wedding Reception
After the ceremony, the couple wandered with their photographer, Carey Kirk, through the property; forest paths, wide-open lawns, and even the tree swing became backdrops for quiet, romantic portraits. As planners, we always look for spaces that can transform into the wedding a couple envisions, and Saxapahaw Country Club at Weslin Farms delivers with ease.
For their reception entrance, Wes honored a family tradition: the Champagne Spray. Our team handled the logistics, so all they had to do was pop the bottle and revel in the celebration.
The venue’s outdoor stage and generous dance floor set the scene for the Blue Star Travelers, the live band who had every guest out of their seats. Square dancing, laughter, and nonstop movement turned the evening into a joyful celebration.
Guests were treated to a delicious dinner provided by the venue itself; BBQ pork from their own farm grown pigs. Alongside that, Smokehouse at Steve’s delivered appetizers and creamy mac and cheese. The smoky aroma and tasty apps had people coming back for more.
Instead of a traditional cake cutting, Caitlin and Wes chose something perfectly them: a first lick. The couple had a butter pecan ice cream cone delivered from the farm and ate it in lieu of cake. Unexpected, playful, and sweet; just like the two of them.
Before their older guests headed home, we coordinated a faux sparkler exit so everyone could participate. The illuminated tunnel of family and friends created a moment the couple will never forget.
